The BUENOS AIRES TANGO CLUB is set at its early stage of development in order to re-edit as much of these recordings on which there founded fear that the same end "lost" if no one is seriously concerned for his rescue from oblivion.
We can state categorically that many of these recordings have been lost forever. Consider that according to the number of people in our country at these times, which it went on from four millions (' years 20) to six millions (' years 30), and to ten millions (' years 50) the minimum amounts of production established by the record labels was only 300 records.
When a famous performer produced a "success" lots of 5000 records were printed, which in some cases as the famous "Cumparsita" Juan D'Arienzo, had to be repeated many times. From these "big" productions many pasta records have come to the present day, since there was one of them in almost all home but when the orchestra did not belong to the group of the leaders, or when the theme music was not of great impact production remained in the minimum quantities (300 records), having cases in which after 50 years or more, has never to this day no disc in recoverable condition.
Consider that the disks were produced with a brittle material, like porcelain, subject to breakage, scratches, sprains, and in many cases they were attacked by fungi and other microorganisms that alter their quality.
The print matrix that belong to the recording companies, had not been preserved for reasons of space first, and primarily because their conservation did not make sense, since after the appearance of plastic material that allowed the confection of the discs of " long plays ", the original matrix would not be already used and therefore they were destroyed.
In some cases like those of the company ODEÓN before rid of these matrix, they passed the original reel magnetic tapes, of those which are now preserved, in spite of having lost something of its sonorous shades and the tapes suffer degradation over time.
In others, such as RCA Victor, or simply misguided mercantilist attitudes such as those adopted by international officials on duty, who, having concluded that the tango was "outdated", threw away the originals without providing preservation by any means.
All this has been very unfortunate and requires those who feel the tango as a genuine manifestation of our popular culture, to make every effort to recover as far as possible, everything can be recovered.
The search
This task that we have doomed the BUENOS AIRES TANGO CLUB is possible thanks to the expertise of researchers at our disposal, who, after learning of any recorded material and not reissued begin their search on the companies or among collectors, hobbyists and individuals. And sometimes they are the same associates, or people close to the Club that bring the material available because they are interested in their recovery and / or editing and can appreciate both the value of the tango as the serious work of the BUENOS AIRES TANGO CLUB .
